Our vision your future

Social Responsibility

Over the past few years, corporate social responsibility has increasingly gained in importance in our society, and it is now widely agreed that companies can no longer ignore the environmental and social issues related to their activities. Our social engagement shows the importance we place on the health and well-being of our employees, our customers, and our vendors, along with our resolve to actively invest in the community.

Community Engagement

We are committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for all our employees; and, at the same time, we are committed to promoting the well-being of the community through charitable initiatives. In addition to directly supporting fundraisers, we encourage our employees to give some time and energy to charitable organizations.

The company is also very involved in the franchise industry in Quebec. Marc Desmarais, President and Chief Executive Officer of Uniban Canada, is Chairman of the Board of the Conseil québécois de la franchise (CQF), and shares his knowledge and expertise so that all the member franchisors and franchisees can develop their competencies and maximize their knowledge.

Sustainable Development

Managing and reducing the negative impacts on the environment continues to be one of our corporate priorities, and even though we operate in the automobile industry, we strive to find tangible solutions for sustainable development and to reduce CO2 emissions.

More than 1.2 million windshields are replaced in Canada each year and sent to landfills, and as a responsible company, we hold ourselves accountable for finding sustainable solutions that make it possible to limit recourse to new raw materials. The fastest and most economical solution is windshield repair—the first step to take, a step that does not deplete raw materials. In every possible way, we try to use this solution first. But because windshield repair is not always possible and because windshield replacement is sometimes unavoidable, recycling the windshield to be replaced becomes the ideal solution. For this reason, in April 2009, Uniban Canada implemented a rigorous, effective, sustainable windshield recycling program that established the company as the first pan-Canadian auto glass network to introduce such a program. All our franchisees and employees have taken part in training clinics and are all very committed to the program. We want to develop alternative environmental solutions for the company’s various products. For this reason, our environmental policies go as far as to encourage vendors to offer “green,” eco-responsible solutions.

We also recognize that our full impact includes the more effective operation of our administrative offices. We have made considerable progress in this area by reducing energy consumption at our office premises and by recycling paper, using teleconferences, setting up a communications site, and offering online training. Yet we are aware that there is still room for improvement. We are more determined than ever to continue to improve our internal practices and to promote our product and service offerings so as to attain our sustainable development objectives.
